USC proved in their regular season ending game vs. UCLA that their defense is adequate and their offense is diverse and deadly. Reggie Bush played a phenomenal game in which he ran for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Leinart was kicking hiney too, he finished the game with 21-for-40 for 233 yards with three touchdown passes. Lendale White finished the game with 154 yards rushing on 14 carries. White scored three touchdowns to break Charles White's school record with 54 for his career.
The argument people use to discard USC as legit are that the PAC 10 is offense happy and defense is a dirty word. If you would compare the records of this conference with others, it holds up nicely against the SEC and ACC. Texas on the other hand come from a gutter of a conference with a divisional champion called Colorado! This team sucks big time and can't even test the mettle of the Navy football team!!!
Texas has got a very good quarterback (who will not win the Heisman) a good coach (I think he's whiny but he can coach) and a very good defense (which deserves more credit than they're being given). My prediction is this: Both teams have about 4 weeks to prepare which will cause jitters. USC has more experience with big game jitters and at the QB position they have the most experience and that's an important edge. The make up of the game reads like this:
Vince Young has to take big risks to make something happen with his offense. Leinart has got more options in which he can go from West Coast to Spread offense in a blink of an eye.
I don't think it will be a blowout but USC will win a good match with a differential of 10-14 points. The reason why? UCLA had the offensive potential to make live difficult for USC, but things turned out another way. The USC defense is adequate where Texas is just darn near the best, but USC will be less time on the field as their counterparts. The Texas offense never had to reach deep except for 1 game against Ohio State. Texas hasn't played a team as good as USC and as deep as USC.
Therefore this USC dynasty will make history!
The biggest BS in the BCS saga is Notre Dame. This 2 lost game team goes to the Fiƫsta bowl after beating teams not in a top 25 or losing to them (Michigan anyone?). Charlie Weis telling people they played teams that were in the top 25 at that time makes him look even more stupid. By that reasoning there are at least 3 ACC teams that should get ranked higher and two teams in the PAC 10 and SEC. #$%^ you Charlie and the same goes for ND and greedy schools who stop the fans from seeing playoffs.
After this rant I will end on apositive note: Bush must win the Heisman and Young should be the no. 2. In any other year I would give it to Young but Bush is truly the mostelectrifyingg man on the field. And I'm happy to see Penn State (and JoePa) back where it belongs.
Seeya.

What I'm going to do in my blog ...
My blog will sometimes contain comments about hobby's, movies, sports and political events and other (in my opinion) important happenings. Today I will write something about a passion of mine .... Football!!! Not as popular as I would like it to be in Europe but this is the year that the Amsterdam Admirals finally won the NFL Europe championship. I am a fan of football from age 11 and on my first of many US trips I bought every player-team-college guide I could get my hands on.
Back to today. One of the biggest things that can make me happy is looking at grudge games. The Trojans and Bruins will meet this coming Saturday to decide who can brag for a year about being the best in L.A.. USC's Matt Leinart, Lendale White and Reggie "The Human Highlight Reel" Bush vs. UCLA's Drew Olson and Maurice Drew. This will be fireworks between two of the most exciting teams this season has to offer.
The stakes are high because If USC loses they'll lose their number 1 spot in the polls. I still think that that would make them the number 2 because the other teams aside from Texas are not in USC's league. And yes, USC can lose a game but I don't think they will this year because they are lucky, plucky and just that damn good. I also want them to beat the tar out of Texas because I haven't forgotten about Whinin' Mack Brown's antics which screwed California out of the Rose Bowl.
My prediction is for USC-UCLA is 38-35 in a game where the man of the match will be Maurice Drew. Which begs the question: Who will win the Heisman? That one deserves an answer after this weekend.
Take care,
Mickel

The first one ...
Hmmm, this is my first blog on the net. Being that everyone nowadays is netactive I decided to join in. Perhaps when I am in a better mood I will post more about my passions (wrestling, comics, music and movies). Two weeks after Eddie Guerrero's death I'm still pissed at the WWE, wrestling and the media in general.
But it's time to focus on the living and not time to dwell on the dead.
With regards,
Mickel Tilburg
